Established in the year 1969, by Vajubhai Patel the speaker mentioned the challenges and hard work in laying the foundation of the esteemed institution. She concisely told the students how Vajubhai Patel wanted teachers to be, who play a pivotal role of serving the society. He believed that education should ensure dignity of labour, we should be humble and not demean others for their labour. The speaker also shared various anecdotes of her journey in teaching. She said that “teachers are not factory built products”, a teacher has to be different. With that she also explained some of the important principles which a teacher must imbibe such as punctuality, respecting students, patience, and good presentation as well language, being polite with students and also avoid verbal ahimsa. It is very important how you conduct yourself as a teacher.
Being a teacher talk to them, give them a chance to ask questions, counsel them. Do not hold grudges against the students. Another point she highlighted was that develop the hunger for knowledge, teacher should engage students in different activities and should not limit to the use of textbook. Further she said that teachers should be keen observers and they should have a solid foundation for values. And lastly they should boost the morale of the students and work towards making them good human beings. At the end few students asked questions to her, which she happily answered.
