ANTI-RAGGING CELL

  • In fulfilment of the Supreme Court order on ragging, the UGC has put up several regulations on their website ugc.ac.in
  • The Anti-Ragging Cell has been constituted at Smt. Surajba College of Education to prevent any kind of ragging in the institution

 

Purpose of Anti-Ragging Cell

  • Prevention of Ragging: The primary objective is to prevent any form of ragging, harassment, or bullying of new students by seniors.
  • Creating Awareness: Educating students about the negative impacts of ragging on victims and the entire college community.
  • Enforcement of Regulations: Enforcing strict adherence to anti-ragging policies and regulations set by the college and the government.
  • Disciplinary Action: Taking prompt disciplinary action against those found guilty of ragging, including imposing penalties and punishments as per college rules and legal provisions.
  • Promoting a Safe Environment: Creating a safe and welcoming environment for all students, especially newcomers, by eliminating fear and intimidation caused by ragging.
  • A committee for the Anti-Ragging Cell has been constituted, consisting of the Principal as Chairperson, senior staff members, and student representatives.

INTERNAL COMPLIANCE (SEXUAL HARASSMENT) COMMITTEE

The purpose of an Internal Compliance (Sexual Harassment) Committee is multifaceted and critical for maintaining a safe and respectful environment. The following is the purpose of establishing the ICC.

Purpose

  1. Prevention of Sexual Harassment: The main purpose is to prevent incidents of sexual harassment within the institution by creating awareness, educating members about what constitutes sexual harassment, and promoting a zero-tolerance policy.
  2. Handling Complaints: Providing a formal and confidential mechanism for individuals to report instances of sexual harassment. The committee ensures that complaints are taken seriously, investigated impartially, and resolved fairly.
  3. Ensuring Compliance: Ensuring compliance with the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013, or relevant laws and guidelines. This includes maintaining proper records, conducting mandatory awareness programs, and submitting annual reports to regulatory authorities.
  4. Promoting a Safe Environment: Fostering a safe and respectful work or academic environment where all members—students, faculty, and staff—feel secure and respected.
  5. Disciplinary Action: Taking appropriate disciplinary action against individuals found guilty of perpetrating sexual harassment, in accordance with institutional policies and legal provisions.

Overall, an Internal Compliance (Sexual Harassment) Committee plays a crucial role in safeguarding the dignity and well-being of individuals within the institution, ensuring a conducive environment for learning, working, and personal growth.

STUDENT COUNCIL

The council’s main aim is to encourage students to take up leadership roles. Every academic year the college conducts an election to elect members to the student council. The council is responsible for coordination among various departments and plays a big role in planning and hosting events and extra-curricular activities.

STUDENT’S COUNSELING CELL

The institution takes student counseling very seriously and assigns a faculty member to lead and guide each group of students. STUDENT’S GRIEVANCE CELL

The student’s Grievance Cell has been constituted at Smt. Surajba College of Education to promote and maintain a fair and unbiased educational environment. The main purpose is to provide a platform for students to report and address grievances related to academics, examinations, infrastructure, faculty-student interactions, discrimination, harassment, or any other relevant issue during their academic journey.

Ensuring fair and impartial resolution of grievances through established procedures and policies, maintaining confidentiality as needed. Offering support and guidance to students who approach the cell, helping them understand their rights and the procedures for filing grievances.

All complaints must be submitted in writing or by email to a member of the Student Grievances Cell. However, with a genuine complaint, he has the right to personally address the members of the department, and if he does not want to write a complaint, he can come personally to present the case after prior agreement with the members.

Overall, the student grievance cell plays a crucial role in promoting a harmonious and productive college environment by addressing grievances promptly and fairly, thereby contributing to the overall well-being and satisfaction of students.

The cell is headed by one member of the management, principal, two senior faculty members, and one member from the clerical staff

WOMEN’S CELL

The Women’s Cell of Smt. Surajba College of Education takes the initiative to organize activities on women empowerment. It aims at creating awareness and understanding about women’s issues, gender discrimination, and sexual harassment; and helps students become aware of legal options available in such cases.

The cell organizes awareness sessions as well as welfare workshops/lectures, gender training workshops, paper reading on topics related to women empowerment, challenges of women, to sensitize the aspiring teachers towards gender issues and its far-reaching consequences in the society. Other initiatives like lectures on women’s health, women’s rights and their safety training in self-defence are organized for our students.
