The event was organised by Gandhi Shikshan Bhavan’s Smt. Surajba College of Education and St. Teresa’s Institute of Education on 21st October 2021 via zoom meeting and it was live at YouTube as well. The college organized this webinar in order to sensitize the future teacher about reading. To inculcate reading habits in themselves as well as in students. The speaker of the day was Madam Jyotsna Sawant. The programme coordinators for the webinar were Dr. Pradnya Bhosekar, Asst. Prof. of Gandhi Shikshan Bhavan’s Surajba College of Education.
On 21st October 2021, the webinar started online with great enthusiasm. The event was hosted by Dr. Pradnya Bhosekar. After the approval of the principal the webinar began with the prayer which was presented by St. Teresa’s Institute of Education. The prayer was followed by a brief welcome address by the student of the St Teresa Institute of Education explaining the reason to celebrate the ” Vachan Prerna Din ” Dr Pradnya Bhosekar. Inclusion of the book presentation of Dr Kalam added more energy and curiosity to the students.
Dr. Shakuntala Nighot then welcomed the speaker Jyotsna Sawant Ma’am, with her kind and inspiring words. Although there were problems with connectivity, Ma’am Jyotsna had a positive smile and enthusiasm for the program while addressing the audience. The speaker shared the importance of reading. As Madam instructed students before the webinar regarding the requirements for the session there was no problem of coordination between students and teachers.
The session started with Reading speed, how to calculate the reading speed and the different aspects of reading speed which really surprised us looking at the results of reading speed. Also mam showed that reading speed depends on the topic we read and the enthusiasm of the reader. Madam also gave techniques for the students to increase their reading speed. The session was interactive and madam involved students in each exercise.
At the end of the exercise madam taught us how to draw mind maps of different topics and importance of it by giving easy examples and also explaining minute details about the diagram which is really important to know as a teacher. She also gave insight on how to read fast and what to avoid while learning so as to get the pace. Madam also suggested some websites and tools which will assist students while reading.
The efforts of the students and teacher coordinators were encouraged to read more and in a better way which is the need of the procession. She also solved students’ questions with enthusiasm and appreciated the efforts of students, teachers and the principal of both the college for organizing such events. At the end Dr Cerena thanked the guest and best library user of the institution announced for St. Teresa Institute of Education. The vote of thanks was proposed by Gayatri Joshi , after which everyone rose for the National Anthem marking the end of the webinar.
